Stefan Dorosz Obituary

Stefan "The Doz" Dorosz was welcomed into the kingdom of heaven on April 5th, 2024. Stefan was born on Nov. 10th, 1945, in Germany to his late parents, Ukrainian descendants, Olga and Dmytro Dorosz.

After moving to the United States with his family, Stefan attended Central High School of Philadelphia where he excelled as a tight end for the football team and graduated in the class of 220! Stefan was proud of his alma mater and always kept track of the Thanksgiving game scores with his nieces, Erica (260) and Tina (266).

After graduation, Stefan was drafted and sent to Vietnam. He served two years as a Corporal in the US Army. As many, it took years for Stefan to speak about the war but when he did, he spoke of his first night at Vietnam. He was sitting on his cot, and he looked at the tent entrance and two rattlesnakes were making their way towards him. He said he froze and realized he was not in Philadelphia any longer. The most recent story that he spoke of was about a time that changed his view of life forever.  Just two weeks in Vietnam, his commander gave him a squad to lead to retrieve a radio on a hill after all communication with that platoon were lost. He knew the mission would be risky because he had to take a bird at night which was unheard of. He spoke how in the air; all you saw were streaks of fire from the weapons and that the sight was startling yet also something he could never explain. When he reached the hill, he said that retrieving members of his unit and collecting dog tags was something that changed, not only his time in Vietnam, but that this was the moment that changed his life from that wild high school jock to a man who now understood real life. Stefan was one of the lucky ones to receive an honorable discharge and came home safely.

Stefan married his sweetheart Maria (Mary), who he nicknamed 'Marush', and bought a farm in Perkasie, PA. Together, they raised horses, chickens, and other various animals. Stefan worked as a machinist at Schutte & Koerting where he was president of local 929 for 35 years. Stefan’s passion, however, was owning and training horses for harness racing. His greatest horse was 'Metatron' who broke records in harness racing. “55 & 4”

Stefan is preceded in death by his father and mother, Dmytro and Olga Dorosz, sisters Sandy Dorosz, Nina Dorosz-Allen, Natalie Dorosz-Monti, brother and sister in-laws Doreen Dorosz, Mickey Monti, and David Baker.

Stefan is survived by his wife 'Marush', sisters Anna Pfau (George), Victoria Baker (David), brother Paulo Dorosz (Nadia) nieces Jennifer, Danielle (Chris), Rachel (Harvey), Gina, Erica (Wil), Tina, nephews Rocky and Michael (Karen) and many, many, many great nieces, and nephews.

Stefan Dorosz was saved by our Lord Jesus Christ. He knew that Jesus died on the cross for our sins and that he will come again. Stefan lived by the word of God and his pride and joy was singing with Billy Graham with his sister Natalie when he came to Philadelphia when Stefan was a boy. His favorite song was "How Great Thou Art". His hope and prayer were that you would also know God's word and love for you and to accept Christ as your personal savior! "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16 KJV
