Andrew Sweeney Obituary

Andy was born in Philadelphia to the late Thomas And Nora Sessions Sweeney ( the late Henry Alan Sim ).  He passed away unexpectedly on Christmas Eve in Jefferson Hospital. 

Andy went to Holy Name School and Penn Treaty High. He was a proud US Army Veteran, serving in the Vietnam Era, reaching the rank of SP4.  His hobbies included making stained glass panels, he was an avid guitarist ( loved Eric Clapton ).  He was a self taught electrician, plumber and carpenter ( which he learned from his Dad).  He loved riding his Honda cycle and his Honda Pilot SUV.  He worked for the Pa Turnpike Commission for over 20 years in their highway maintenance department.  

He is the beloved husband of Carol (nee Nefferdorf). Devoted father of Steven Sweeney and Andrea Dawson ( Tom ).

Loving pop pop of Andrew T., Makayla and Adriana.  Brother of Agnes Gruber ( John ) and the late Nora McIntire ( Frank ).

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing and funeral on Thursday, January 2, 2020, beginning at 8 AM in the McELVARR FUNERAL HOME, 1415-17 East Susquehanna Avenue, Fishtown, where his Service of Christian Burial will be at 10 AM. Interment with Full Military Honors will follow at Washington Crossing National Cemetery.   In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorial contributions to the American Diabetes Assoc. at the address below.
