Dawn Renee Dunbar

Dawn was born in Philadelphia to Robert Sr and Jeanne Lord Dunbar.  She passed away in University of Pennsylvania Hospital on Tuesday, surrounded by her loving family, after a long but valiant battle with cancer. Dawn was born and raised in Fishtown, but had spent a number of years in Wildwood Crest. 

Dawn was an animal lover, especially the canine types.  They seemed to gravitate to her and she befriended them all. She will be sorely missed by her fur baby Zoey. 

She was employed at the University Hospital in the housekeeping department for over 20 years, until illness forced her retirement about 6 years ago.  She was a member of Teamsters Local 115.  

In addition to her parents, Dawn leaves to mourn her siblings, Jeanne Sweet, Bernadette Dunbar and Robert Dunbar Jr.  She is the loving aunt of Brandon, Justin, Shayne, Timothy and Maranda. And doting great aunt of Aubree.  She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Wednesday May 1, 2019 after 9 AM, in Holy Name of Jesus Church, 701 East Gaul St, Fishtown, where her Funeral Mass will begin at 10 AM.  Interment to follow at Palmer Cemetery.

The family is respectfully requesting memorial contributions in Dawn's name to the Abramson Cancer Center, 3400 Civic Center Blvd, Phila. Pa 19101
