Hos Keo (Sok Kim), 86, passed away on Friday, January 18th, 2019 in Lansdale, PA, after a long, grueling battle with Alzheimer’s and dementia.

She was the youngest of 8, born on July 6th, 1932 in Province Takeo, Kampuchea (Cambodia). She married Mr. Sun Bun in 1954 and had 9 children, 2 of which passed away at birth. After the Vietnam War, the country fell siege to the Khmer Rouge in 1975, forcing Hos Keo and her family out of their home to a foreign land in the countryside, where they were subjected to strenuous labor.

In 1980, Hos Keo and her husband fled the country, fighting for the safety and well-being of their children. Her eldest son was captured by Khmer Rouge soldiers and did not survive the escape. Husband and wife, along with the 6 surviving children, settled in a refugee camp before finally immigrating to Philadelphia, PA.

In Philadelphia, Hos and her husband worked several jobs to build a comfortable life for their family. She had the kindest heart, and devoted her life to giving back. Being an entrepreneur and philanthropist in her homeland, she helped to build schools, and found ways to give back to her new community here in America. She raised all of her grandchildren like they were her own. She loved gardening and surrounded herself with beautiful plants and flowers. Some of her guilty pleasures included WWE, Days of our Lives, and Wheel of Fortune.

She lived a full, wonderful life surrounded by her growing family. Surviving Hos are her husband, 6 children, 16 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

The family will be participating in 7 Days of Prayer (Soul Awakening) at Watt Khmer Palelai on January 21 – 27, 2019. Family members are invited to pray for the first 5 days. Family and friends are invited for the viewing and prayer on Saturday at 6PM, with a final offering and prayer at 9AM on Sunday.
