Joseph P. Diamond "Uncle Joe" passed away peacefully on December 2, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. He was 93 years old. He was born in Philadelphia on March 5, 1925 to James and Ellen Diamond. He was one of twelve children and a loving brother to his siblings. He is the cherished uncle to his many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed by his loving family and his caregivers Susan and Mike Margerum.
Joseph was a proud Army Veteran who served his country during World War II. He achieved the ranking of Staff Sergeant. He was a humble, religious man and was affectionately known as "Sweepstakes Joe" as he would enter these contests in hopes of winning things, which he loved to gift to his family and friends. Although he did not have children of his own, he treated his nieces and nephews as such and was a father figure to the children of his dear sister, Ann Grone.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather and celebrate his life Sunday December 9, 2018 beginning at 7pm in Hubert M. McBride Funeral Home 2357 E. Cumberland St. Philadelphia PA 19125. Catholic Funeral service 8pm. Private burial at Washington Crossing National Cemetery
