Michael J. Haines

Michael J. Haines passed away at home on November 12, 2019 due to complications from dialysis which strained his body, especially his heart.  At 51 years old, he battled this all his life with courage and strength with the hopes of getting well again and returning to his roles of provider, husband, dad "Mr. Mom" and Pop.  He is the beloved husband and best friend of Lorraine (nee Hillman). Cherished son of James Haynes and Margaret Haines-Benner (Howard). Devoted father of Michael Jr. (Samantha), Brittany (Thomas), Justin, Ryan, Marc, and Megan. Loving Pop of Elisabeth, Michael III, Chloe, Carson, Riley, Mackenzie, and Kyle. Dear brother of Jim, John (Eileen), and Margie. Sadly missed by his in laws Charlyne and Danny Pote and his cousin Frankie Kirchner. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. 

Michael was born and raised in Fishtown and lived there for most of his life. He loved to hang out with his friends while living there and it was there that he met his wife when they were teenagers. They raised their own family there until his illness required them to move elsewhere.  Michael was a hard working man when he was healthy and was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He was devoted to his family and loved them more than anything. He also loved to go fishing and his favorite team, the Washington Redskins.  He will be unimaginably missed by his wife, children, grandchildren, parents, stepfather,  and his siblings. 

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing and funeral Friday November 15, 2019 beginning at 7pm in the Hubert M. McBride Funeral Home 2357 E. Cumberland Street Philadelphia PA 19125. His funeral service will begin at 8:30pm. Interment will be private as his wishes were to be cremated.  In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests and appreciates any donations to help defray the cost of his final expenses.
