Andrew 'Andy' Kroyos

Andy was born in Girardville, Schuylkill County to the late Andrew and Josephine Ptyalyk Kroyos.   He passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He attended Hackett, Penn Treaty and Frankford High School.  After High School he joined the Air Force and was stationed in England. The story goes that he went AWOL on the day of Queen Elizabeth II's coronation so that he and a buddy could attend the ceremony.  He said he peeled a lot of potatoes for the next few months. 

Andy's family had owned Andy's Bar, at Memphis and Susquehanna, and he ran the business after his father died.  He was an avid Phillies and Eagles fan.   Andy was a member of Teamsters Locals 107 and 463.  He worked for Holt Warhouse Co and Bakerite Co.  Andy enjoyed reading and walking his daughter's dog. 

He had an extensive Christmas Village platform in his home and was featured on a segment of Bob Kelly's Good Day Philadelphia on Channel 3. 

Andy was a loving husband, beloved father and adored Pop Pop. He married his late wife Rita (nee Walsh) on July 2, 1960, and remained a devoted husband for nearly 50 years, until her death in March 2010.  Andy was a long-time member of Holy Name Parish and the choir.    

He is the devoted father of Jacqueline Maikner (Joe), Rita M. Wiseman (Richard), Jack Mills (Carol) and Cathy Bernacki (Chris).  Grandfather of Christopher, Matt, Kim and Jack.  Great Grandfather of Brooke, Patrick, Emma, Capri and Ella.  Brother of the late Pete Pytrysson (Alice), Josephine Repitcky (George), Mary Kuzbyt (Michael) and his twin Ann Lebato (Frank). Sadly missed by his nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing and funeral on Tuesday, November 29, 2022, beginning at 10 AM in Holy Name of Jesus Church, Fishtown.  His Funeral Mass will be at 11:30 AM, followed by interment with Military Honors at Resurrection Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest with his beloved Rita.
