Barbara Becker Obituary

Barbara A. Becker (nee Kelly) passed away on February 18, 2026 at the age of 87. She was born on July 7, 1938 to the late Francis and Catherine (nee McCafferty) Kelly and was a lifelong resident of Philadelphia.

She was raised in the proud and close-knit community of St. Anne Parish, a parish that remained close to her heart throughout her life. A graduate of John W. Hallahan Catholic Girls’ High School, Class of 1956, she carried the values of faith, friendship, and determination with her in all she did.

Barbara worked for many years as an administrative assistant, where her strong management skills, organization, and steady leadership earned the respect of colleagues and friends alike. Those same talents extended well beyond the workplace and into her community life. She was actively involved with the Port Richmond Boys Club, Neumann Senior Living, and, of course, her beloved St. Anne Church. There, she played an instrumental role in the long-running success of the parish bingo and generously served on various committees over the years.

Barbara loved the shore — almost as much as she loved her family. She adored her grandchildren and took immense pride and joy in each of them. A true Irish spitfire, she had a lively spirit, a quick wit, and enjoyed the occasional nip of Baileys Irish Cream.

Barbara greatly missed her beloved husband, Tom, and her family takes comfort in knowing she is now reunited with him — “the Kel to his Beck.”

Above all, Barbara will be remembered for her devotion to family, her deep faith, and the energy and warmth she brought to every room she entered.

Barbara is the beloved wife of the late Thomas J. Becker Jr. Devoted mother of Barbara McKenna (Mike), Thomas J. Becker III (Denise), Cathy Houck (Bob), Maureen Steinmetz (Joe), and Gerard Becker (Maria). Loving Grandmother of Michael (Sheri), Christopher (Amy), Katie (Chris), Sean, Shannon (Jay), Danny (Becky), Bryana, Kelly, Abigail, Thomas J. IV, Patrick, Joseph, Lisa, Robbe, Jack, Nicholas, and Elizabeth. Sadly missed by her 14 great grandchildren. Dear sister of Francis Kelly Jr. (Helen), and the late James and Joseph Kelly.

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing and funeral Wednesday February 25, 2026 from 7-9pm and Thursday February 26, 2026 from 9:30-10:30am in the Hubert M. McBride Funeral Home 2357 East Cumberland Street Philadelphia, PA 19125. Funeral mass 11am in St. Anne Church (upper) 2328 East Lehigh Ave. Philadelphia, PA 19125.
