Barry Davis

Barry Davis, age 48, passed away on November 14, 2024. He was born on February 25, 1976 in Philadelphia. 

Barry was raised in the Fishtown section of Philadelphia, a place he called home for his entire life. He attended Adaire Elementary School and then Mercy Vocational High School, where he studied culinary arts. Barry continued to develop his culinary talent after high school while working for many years as a bread baker, even acquiring the nickname “Barry the Baker”. 

Always an adventurous guy, Barry enjoyed rollerblading  or riding his bike all over the city. He would frequent thrift stores and flea markets, hunting for the perfect gift to surprise his loved ones, especially his mom. More than the find, Barry loved the part of giving. He was a kind and generous person. 

Barry will be remembered most for being humble and soft spoken. He was never one to anger quickly and if he did, he never showed it. He would walk away and always gave that same advice. Barry was simply a “sweet soul” who will be missed tremendously by those who knew and loved him.

Barry is the beloved son of Joan F. Davis (Joseph Galiczynski) the late Edward Barry Schaeffer. Dear brother of Edward and Eric (Laura) Schaeffer. Loving nephew of Charles (Geri), Ellen Prodoehl, Susan (Eddie), Steven (Mira), and Diane Graham (Bill). Sadly missed by his nieces, nephews, cousins, and his dear friend Kathryn Kulpa. 

Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation and funeral Monday November 25, 2024 beginning at 9:30am in the McElvarr Funeral Home 1415-17 East Susquehanna Ave. Philadelphia, PA 19125 (Fishtown). Funeral service 11am. Interment Fernwood Cemetery Yeadon, PA.
