Brendan T. McCulligan

Brendan Thomas McCulligan, 42, passed away peacefully at home on September 5, 2023 after a brave 12 year battle against cancer. Bren is the beloved son of Marianne (nee Rue) and the late Thomas. Dear brother of Jennifer (Bob), Kaitlin Graham (Pablo), and Lauren. Cherished and proud uncle (a.k.a. Tio) to Tomas Xavier and Ana Lucia Graham. Loving cousin of Christine Arentzen (Robert) and Eva Silva (Claudio). Sadly missed by many more aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Bren grew up in the Kensington and Fishtown area, regularly playing basketball in the neighborhood where he was dubbed “Buckshot” for his smooth jumper.  He attended St. Laurentius Grade School and graduated from North Catholic High School in 1998.  He went on to obtain a degree in Computer Science from Holy Family University and worked for GlaxoSmithKline for over 15 years.

Bren also was an #angrychef, Norphan, and Eagles season ticket holder.  He was an avid and outspoken sports fan - never missing a Philadelphia team play.  He loved relaxing, socializing, and calling it like he saw it with family and friends.

He truly went 12 rounds with the beast while continuing to be a strong inspiration to all who knew him.  He was patient and working for his good shot. Now, God wants him on the floor.

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Monday, September 11, 2023, from 7-9 PM and again on Tuesday September 12, 2023, beginning at 9 AM in the McELVARR FUNERAL HOME, 1415-17 East Susquehanna Avenue, Fishtown.  His Funeral Mass will be offered at 10:30 AM, in Holy Name of Jesus Church.
