Brian A. Smith

Brian A. Smith, age 43, passed away unexpectedly at home on July 6, 2025. He is the beloved husband of Julia Ringenary. Devoted father of Cassidy, Grace, and Brielle Smith. Cherished son of Dolores (nee Caterino) and Kevin Nelson. Loving brother of Jason Smith (Jamie), Gregory Smith, Amanda Nelson, and the late Daniel Smith. Dear son-in-law of Terry and Kevin Ringenary. Sadly missed by his many nieces and nephews and his extended family. Preceded in death by his nephew Jordan.

Brian was a devoted Philadelphia sports fan whose passion for his teams was matched only by his love for his family. As the ultimate “girl dad,” he proudly took on the role of personal chauffeur—fondly referring to his car as the “Daddy Taxi”—and was always there on the sidelines cheering on his daughters as their biggest supporter and coach. Brian had a flair for style, known for his extensive hat collection and his signature color: pink, a perfect tribute to the proud girl dad he was. His love and guidance extended beyond his own children to his bonus children, whom he embraced wholeheartedly as his own.

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing and funeral Monday July 14, 2025 from 7-9pm in the Hubert M. McBride Funeral Home 2357 East Cumberland Street Philadelphia, PA 19125 and Tuesday July 15, 2025 from 9:15-10:15am in St. Anne Church (lower) 2328 East Lehigh Avenue Philadelphia, PA 19125. Funeral mass to follow at 10:30am. Interment will be private and at a later date. The family would love if those in attendance would wear pink or your favorite Philadelphia sports gear.
