Catherine “Cathy” M. Fry

Catherine M. Fry “Cathy”, formerly of Philadelphia,  passed away unexpectedly at home on May 29, 2021.  She is the beloved wife of Christopher Tomczak. Devoted mother of Jeff (Jackie), Jaime (late Rob), Kimberly (Matt), Kellie (Jeff), Christopher (Joan), Stephanie (Justin), and the late Paul. Loving Mom-Mom of Alison, Christopher, Colin, Gabby, Carley, Matt, Aubrey, Cole, Joey, Justin, Oliver, Sophie, Ellie, and Braelyn. Cherished sister of Susan (late Richard), Nancy, Tommy, Bobby, David (Donna), and the late John. Dear sister in law of Raymond (Karen), Denise (Fred), Lynn (Joe), Joseph (Rita), David (Sharon), Harry, Jeanine (late John), Mary (Gerry), and the late Richard and Franny (Henry). Sadly missed by her many nieces and nephews and her adopted grandchildren whom she loved as her own. She is preceded in death by her adoring parents, Robert and Eleanor “Joan” Fry. 

Cathy, “Big C”, Crazy Cathy, or Mama Bear, was the inspiration for the term “Chatty Cathy”. A simple call to say hello could last well over 3 hours. As much as her family would joke that this drove them nuts, they looked forward to those phone calls and could count on her being there to listen and share in every aspect of their lives. Cathy was always the person who showed up for everything, and for everyone, even if it was hours late :) She adored her family, her friends, her kids’ friends, and their kids and would spend her last dime, and Pop’s, showering those she loved with gifts. If you knew Cathy, you loved her. She will always be remembered for her loving and caring heart and she will be missed tremendously by all those who knew and loved her. 
 

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing and funeral Friday June 4, 2021 beginning at 10am in the Hubert M. McBride Funeral Home 2357 East Cumberland Street Philadelphia PA 19125. Funeral service 12pm. Interment private.
