Clara was born in Philadelphia to the late William and Frieda Dassler. She passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving friends.
She was born and raised on the 3100 block of Tulip Street in the home that her father purchased in 1914. Her mother emigrated from Germany and was the Nanny for her step brother William , and in the end married her father and together they had Clara and Robert. Clara was an expert at preparing German foods. She used the recipes from her mother's cookbook , which was written in German. She had it translated and followed her recipes. She attended local schools and went to Temple University to study Real Estate. But, she found her true call by working as an executive secretary for Smith Kline French, now Glaxo Smith Kline. She worked there for over 40 years.
In her earlier days she taught knitting classes at John Wanamaker Dept Store in Center City. She was an avid animal lover and will be sadly missed by her fur babies, Butchie and Buster.
She is survived by her best friend and care-giver Anthony ( Andy ) Kober. Her brother Robert Passed away in 1993.
Her viewing will be on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, beginning at 10 AM, in the McELVARR FUNERAL HOME, 1415-17 East Susquehanna Avenue, Fishtown, where her Funeral Service will be at 11 AM. She will be laid to rest with the Dassler family in Forest Hills Cemetery.
