Daniel B. White passed away at home on October 10, 2023 with his loving family by his side. He was born on February 15, 1943 to the late James and Ellen (nee Millar).
Daniel was raised in the Fishtown section of Philadelphia with his fifteen brothers and sisters. He attended Holy Name of Jesus School and then West Catholic High School, from which he graduated Class of 1960. After high school, he entered the United States Army and served in Germany during the Vietnam Era. During this time, he learned to speak German and many years later he was still able to teach his grandchildren some of the language.
Daniel met the love of his life Laureen Tereshko and the two married. They raised their children in East Kensington, in St. Anne parish and he remained there throughout his life. Daniel worked as a dispatcher for Holt Logistics and then as a court officer for the City of Philadelphia and always worked hard to provide for his family. In his downtime he enjoyed watching Temple Football and his nights out at the Kensington Amvets Post 146 with his brother and friends. He was also a history and geography enthusiast who shared this knowledge with his family.
Daniel was the true epitome of a gentleman. He was quiet, calm, and reserved. When he spoke, people listened as he was always intelligent and respectful. He was completely devoted to his family and would do anything for his wife, children, and grandchildren. Daniel’s family is heartbroken but they take comfort that he is reunited in heaven with his wife and son and his many family members who have gone before him.
Daniel is the beloved husband of the late Laureen (nee Tereshko). Devoted father of Brian (Katie), Laurie Jordan, and the late Joseph (Tammy). Loving Poppy to Justin Jordan, Sean Jordan, Brendan, and Lainey. Dear brother of Margaret Knox (late James), Francis (late Marie), Eileen McKeown (James), Sister Kathleen White IHM, and the late Seamus, Mary, Elizabeth Bonner (late Charles), Gerard, Ellen, John, Thomas (late Edna), Patrick (late Ellen), Vincent, Anne McLaughlin (late Don), and Lawrence. Sadly missed by his many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing and funeral Friday October 20, 2023 beginning at 9am in St. Anne Church (upper) 2328 East Lehigh Ave. Philadelphia PA 19125 followed by his funeral mass at 11am. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to Mother of Divine Grace School Tuition Assistance 2612 East Monmouth Street Philadelphia, PA 19134
