We are sad to announce the passing of Deborah Hagan on October 19, 2023, after a daunting battle with cancer. She faced it with the strength, and courage that was synonymous with her character. She passed peacefully surrounded by her family.
Deborah grew up in the Port Richmond area of Philadelphia. She attended St. Annes and later J.W. Hallahan High School Class of '77. She attended Moore College of Art, where she received her Bachelor's degree in computer science, and her computer engineering from Spring Garden College in 1990. She was currently pursuing her Master's Degree at University of Maryland Global Campus.
Debbie later moved to Virginia where she enjoyed a career in multiple government agencies as an IT specialist. Her passion in life, and her greatest legacy, were her three children. She strived to provide a loving, caring, supportive environment for them, always encouraging them to reach for the stars. She always put her children’s health, happiness, and safety above her own. A very talented artist she enjoyed painting, sketching, and refurbishing old furniture, spending time at the beach and relaxing in her hammock, having her prosecco champagne or a Sam Adams. She enjoyed spending time with her children exploring the city of D.C.
She was always smiling and happy and never wanted anyone to be sad or especially not to cry she would always tell us “stop crying”. She was selfless, always concerned about everyone else. She wanted everyone to enjoy and live life to the fullest as she always strived to do.
She is survived by her three children Natalie Laborde, Gabrielle Laborde, Anthony Laborde. Her mother Mary Hagan, siblings Mary Czajkowski, Jim Whitehead (Cecelia), Patricia Maiorana (Leo) Maureen Hagan, William Hagan (Jennifer), sisters-in-law Chris Laborde and Susan Tow, along with many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She is pre-deceased by her father Joseph Hagan, siblings Joseph Whitehead, Grace Mattera.
Family and close friends are invited to attend a celebration of Deborah's life on Saturday November 4,2023 from 3pm to 7pm at the Casbah Caterers 3461 E. Thompson Street Philadelphia, PA 19134. We ask that everyone wear something Purple, Debbie’s favorite color.
