Dorothy M. (Grabfelder) Heary

Dorothy M. Heary (nee Grabfelder) passed away suddenly on August 28, 2021 at the age of 70. She is the beloved wife of 51 years to Michael J. Heary Sr. Devoted mother of Michael J. Jr. (Jodi), Steven J. (Carol), and Deena Heary-Baranauskas (Dennis). Loving Mom-Mom to Brandon. Austin, Kayla, Joshua, Jaden, Logan and also to her great grandchildren Stella Rose and Avianna. Cherished sister of Diane Farley (late Edmond),David Grabfelder, Robert Grabfelder, the late Richard, James, and George Grabfelder and sister in law of Anna Marie, Maureen, Edward, and the late Patrick and Henry. Sadly missed by her godson Edmond Farley and her nieces and nephews. 

Dorothy was born to the late George and Dorothy (nee Kirby) Grabfelder. She was raised in the Fishtown neighborhood of Philadelphia and remained here after marrying her husband Mike to raise her own family. She and her family later moved to Bridesburg. She worked as a housekeeper for Northeastern Hospital until her retirement, which was perfect for Dorothy as she took pride in all things such as her appearance, her home, and her work. She loved shopping and dining out and had great taste in all things.  She also enjoyed family parties and her family loved having her as she was famous for bringing the most thoughtful gifts and the best desserts. Dorothy had a heart of gold and loved to make people happy. She never forgot cards on special occasions and would buy gifts when you didn't even expect them.  Dorothy also loved all things Elvis and loved to attend shows by her favorite Elvis impersonator.  She enjoyed so many things in her life but none more than time with her family. She lived her life for her husband, children, and grandchildren and they were her pride and joy. She will be missed tremendously by all those who had the privilege of knowing her. 

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing and funeral Tuesday September 7, 2021 beginning at 10am in the McElvarr Funeral Home 1415-17 East Susquehanna Ave. Philadelphia PA 19125 (Fishtown) Words of Remembrance 12pm. Interment Resurrection Cemetery.
