Dorothy T. Lachowicz (nee Smaron), aged 91 years, passed away peacefully Saturday, September 4th with her husband of 50 years by her side. She suffered a devastating stroke on August 25th from which she would never recover. Dorothy was the beloved wife of Richard and a devoted stepmother to Bruce (Bonnie), Rick (Lynn), and Brenda Lachowicz. She was a loving Grandmother to the late Kristina Lachowicz, Jillian Hippel (Harry), Jessica Lachowicz, Lara Mustari and a Great Grandmother to Eddie and Amira. She was the sister of Florence (John) Michalak and the late Jean, Julie, Casmir, Zygmund, Stanley, and Edward. She will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was born in Philadelphia to Anna and Walenty Smaron. She attended Frankford High School and then worked at Blumenthal's Candy factory making "Goobers and Raisinettes". In 1950 she married William Kline but was widowed at the young age of 34 and was truly blessed when she fell in love with Richard Lachowicz and remarried at the age of 41.
Early in their marriage, Dorothy and Richard worked together in the family insurance business. She was an excellent worker who enjoyed interacting with the clients. Together they traveled this great country and visited many parts of Europe and even Hawaii. She enjoyed spending time at their house in Cape May where Richard kept his fishing boat. She was a homemaker who took pride in taking care of the family. Dorothy liked crocheting, crossword puzzles, cooking ( best macaroni salad ever), and working in her garden. She was a spiritual person praying often to Saint Theresa.
As a wife, stepmom, grandmom, sister, and aunt, Dorothy was devoted to her family and was happiest when surrounded by her loved ones. She touched many lives with her kindness, her affection, and her generous spirit. She will be missed tremendously by all who knew and loved her-especially her family. We can take comfort in knowing that she is now reunited with the loved ones who have gone before her especially her granddaughter Kristina.
Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral Saturday, September 11th at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church at 1731 Hulmeville Road in Bensalem PA 19020. The viewing is at 10am followed by a Funeral Mass at 11am. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery in Bensalem.
