Dorothy M. Sickels-Brown (nee Foley) “Dot” passed away on March 16, 2023 with her loving family by her side. She was 90 years old. Dot was the beloved wife of the late Robert E. Sickels and Willard A. Brown. Devoted mother of Robert (Maureen), Frances (Butch), Margaret Gibson (Willy), Dottie (Rich), Theresa (Michael), and the late Margaretta (Leroy). Cherished Nan and Nanny to her many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and her great great granddaughter. Preceded in death by her brothers and sisters and her fiancée Lou. Sadly missed by her many nieces and nephews.
Dot will always be remembered for being the woman with the purest heart and the coolest hair. She was funny, spunky, sassy, and just adorable. Dot was fiercely devoted to her family and if she loved you, she loved you immensely. She was like a mother to so many and her door was always open for anyone who needed her. Even as she got older, Dot was the rock of her family and always managed to hold it down for them no matter what. She did this while working and also finding time to socialize, whether it was with the Dollies, at the Lutheran Settlement House or playing bingo. Dot was also a huge fan of watching wrestling.
Dot will be missed tremendously by anyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her family takes comfort in knowing that she was welcomed into heaven by her loved ones who have gone before her.
Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing and funeral Saturday March 25, 2023 beginning at 9am in the Hubert M. McBride Funeral Home 2357 East Cumberland Street Philadelphia, PA 19125. Funeral service 11am. Interment New Cathedral Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
