Edna Mae Douglas "Aunt Mae" passed away peacefully on November 1, 2024 at the age of 91. She was a proud lifelong Fishtown resident and an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan. She was active at the Lutheran Settlement for many years and had many friends there. She loved to dance and never missed an opportunity to do the electric slide. Aunt Mae, as she was affectionately called, enjoyed taking her nieces and nephews to the shore and spending time on the beach. She was employed by Jerome Foods Turkey Plant in their processing department for over 30 years, retiring when they closed.
She was a beloved aunt to 3 generations of nieces and nephews. Those here on earth and those that have passed on. She will be especially missed by nephews Timothy Douglas & David Leitner and niece Maureen Anderson.
She is survived by her sister Lulu Johnson. She was predeceased by her sisters Mary Leitner, Rose Douglas and brothers John "Pat" and Howard Douglas.
Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Thursday, November 7, 2024 beginning at 9:30 AM and to Words of Remembrance at 11 AM, in the McELVARR FUNERAL HOME, 1415-17 East Susquehanna Ave., Fishtown. Interment will be at a later date in Palmer Cem.
