Edward Joseph Rue, III

Edward Joseph Rue, III, 56, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2023. He had been ill for some months and died of a cardiac arrest in his sleep. Eddie was the beloved son of Joan (nee Jurkofsky) and the late Edward J. Rue, Jr. Dear brother of; Joan (Melvin Nelson) Weedan, Judith (Joseph) Henderson, Matthew (Charity), Barbara Rue-(Mark) Surentz, Julia (Rob) Schenkel and Jeffrey. Proud uncle of; Valarie, Jasmine, Jessica, Erick, Joey, Matthew, Frank, Justin, Ferdinand, Sophia, Julianna, Mia, Nathen, Robert, Jack, Jayda and Mikayla. Sadly, missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Eddie grew up in Kensington and attended St. Boniface and then Holy Name of Jesus grade school. He was an honor student at Northeast Catholic High School and graduated in 1985. Eddie worked in mechanics and roofing and then worked at Strunk Trucking for many years. 

He enjoyed weight lifting, which he started as a teen and continued this up to his death. He was so strong, that he once lifted the back of his mother's car to make sure it was aligned at the curb. 

Eddie had a spark to him, but underneath he was a loving, gentle giant. He had an incredible memory and a great sense of humor. We will miss his morning cartoon jokes on facebook about coffee, his funny faces and his love for all the children. Rest in peace Eddie, no more pain.

Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 from 8:30 - 10 AM in the HUBERT M. McBRIDE FUNERAL HOME, 2357 East Cumberland Street.   His Funeral Mass will be offered at 11 AM, in St. Jerome's Church, 8100 Colfax Street.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
