Edward “Eddie” V. Greene

Edward V. Greene “Eddie” passed away peacefully on March 4, 2024 at the age of 67. He was born on June 8, 1956 to the late Edward and Mary (nee Keegan) Greene. 

Eddie was raised in St. Anne parish and remained in the neighborhood throughout his life. He even purchased a home just across the street from his childhood home. Eddie was a fixture in the neighborhood and his Memphis Street neighbors became his extended family. 

Eddie attended North Catholic High School for Boys and was a proud graduate of the Class of 1974. After high school, he worked for Sears and then for many years as a truck driver, only taking routes that would allow him to be home at night with his family. In his down time, he enjoyed time spent with those he loved and also watching Philadelphia sports, especially the Eagles and Phillies. His family would often avoid him during these times as he was a very passionate fan and would most certainly be yelling at the TV. 

Eddie remained close to his faith always and especially to his parish of St. Anne. He attended mass faithfully and even served as a Eucharistic Minister. In honor of his faith and in lieu of flowers, his family respectfully requests memorial contributions to St. Anne Church 2328 East Lehigh Ave. Philadelphia, PA 19125.

Eddie is the beloved husband of Mary Fran (nee Monroe). Devoted father of William Gallagher (Danielle) and Pop of Olivia, Finley, and Declan. Dear brother of Kathy Layton (Chuck), Margie Heron (Denny), Lori Miller (Jim), John Greene, Maryann Warrington (Bruce), Frank Greene (Kala), and the late Patricia Caterina (Dominick). Sadly missed by his brother-in-law, 2 sisters in-law, and his many nieces and nephews. 

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing and funeral Wednesday March 13, 2024 from 9-10:45am in St. Anne Church (lower) 2328 East Lehigh Ave. Philadelphia, PA 19125. Funeral Mass 11am. Interment Resurrection Cemetery.
