Edward "Eddie" R. White

Edward R. White "Eddie" passed away on September 11, 2023 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 15,1962 to the late Irene White. 

Eddie is the beloved husband of Margaret Gunkel. Devoted father of Matthew White (Nicole), Joseph Gunkel, and the late Edward White "Little Eddie" and Christopher Gunkel. Loving Pop-Pop of Joey. Dear brother of the late Gail Selby. Sadly missed by his best friends who were like his brothers Dave Slevenski and Joe Fenton, and also by his many nieces and nephews, whom he loved dearly. 

Eddie or "Eddie the Roofer" was the unofficial mayor of the Kensington/Fishtown area and to know him was to love him. He was a hard worker and would do anything he could to support his family. Eddie was also a genuine person who would do anything to help anyone who needed it. He was the life of every party, whether talking to everyone he met or tearing up the dance floor.

Eddie will be missed greatly by all those who had the pleasure of knowing him, but especially his family, who loved him immensely. They take comfort in knowing that he is being reunited in heaven with those who have gone before him, especially his mother, sister, and son. 

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing and funeral Tuesday September 19, 2023 beginning at 10am in the Hubert M. McBride Funeral Home 2357 East Cumberland Street Philadelphia, PA 19125. Funeral service 12pm. Eddie will be laid to rest with his mother and son at a later date.
