Elizabeth F. DiStefano (nee Hayden) passed away peacefully at home on January 1, 2026. She was born in Philadelphia to the late Francis and Roberta (nee Reese) Hayden.
Elizabeth is the beloved wife of the late Thomas DiStefano. Dear sister of Arnold Hayden (late Lou), Francis Hayden (late Barbara), Virginia Kagarise (Rod), Valerie Boatright (John Mautz), Cresencia Reilly (late Jim), Melody Brogan (James), William Malin (Sharon), Susan DeFranco (Frank)and the late Wallace Speckhart (late John). Sadly missed by her Goddaughter Liz Tapan (Brian McCloud) and their children. Also survived by her lifelong companion Flavia Micic and her many nieces and nephews.
Elizabeth was a lifelong resident of the Kensington section of Philadelphia. She had a deep love for crafting, especially ceramics, and enjoyed collecting many things, including dolls and copper pieces. Alongside her husband, she operated a boarding home for women with intellectual and mental disabilities. After his passing, Elizabeth continued this work on her own, dedicating herself to supporting these women by teaching life skills and offering a steady, caring presence in their lives.
Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing and funeral Friday January 9, 2026 beginning at 10am in the Hubert M. McBride Funeral Home 2357 East Cumberland Street Philadelphia, PA 19125 followed by her funeral service at 12pm. Interment to follow in Magnolia Cemetery.
