Elsie P. (Somers) Kenyon

Elsie earned her wings on August 14, 2021, after a long and courageous battle with dementia.   

She is the beloved wife of late Robert John Kenyon, Sr.  Devoted mother of Ellen (Tony) of Dover, Fl. ,  Tammy (Rick) of Plant City, Fl., Sandie of Plant City, Fl.  Renee of Philadelphia,  Robert Jr. of Philadelphia and Shawn ( Melinda) of Philadelphia. Beloved sister Ethel and Marie. 

She was Gram to her 16 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 1 great- great grandchild. 

She grew up in Fishtown. She was a hard worker. Working as a waitress in many places, local factories and loved to help her husband. Still in her last days she would say “I can still climb on a roof and lay shingles”. 

Elsie will be remembered for being a beautiful and caring person, who never had a bad word to say about anyone and would help in any way she could. She was a kind and gentle soul.  Elsie was a longtime member of Bethel Baptist Church. 

She will be deeply missed, but her family takes comfort knowing that she will be reunited with her loved ones who have gone before her, especially her husband, siblings and grandson “T”.  

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing and funeral Tuesday August 24, 2021 from 9:30-11:00 AM at Grace Baptist Church 4544 Almond St. Philadelphia Pa. 19137.  Her Funeral Service will begin at 11 AM.  She will be laid to rest with her beloved husband, Robert, at Greenmount Cemetery, 4301 N Front St. Philadelphia, Pa 19140
