Francis J. O'Brien Jr.

Francis J. O'Brien "Frank", formerly of West Philadelphia, passed away peacefully at home on September 29, 2019. He was 8o years old.  He is preceded in death by his parents Francis J. Sr. and Dorothy and his brothers James and Richard (Mary). He is survived by his wife Mary E. Galasso; his children James, Eric (Robin), Frank (Patricia), Dorothy Fessler, Patricia, and Sharon Dodgion (Brian); his 14 grandchildren and his nieces and nephews. Frank was a hard worker who was employed for 35 years with the Philadelphia Gas Works, working in various positions until his retirement. He also enjoyed his retirement and liked to spend his time painting and refinishing furniture. His family will fondly remember him for his quick wit and humor and his ability to tell a good joke. Relatives and friends are invited to his graveside service Saturday October 12, 2019 promptly at 12:30pm in SS Peter and Paul Cemetery (Section 18) 1600 S. Sproul Rd. Springfield, PA 19064. Please arrive and meet the family at the chapel at 12:15pm to be escorted to the gravesite.  A reception to honor and celebrate Frank's life will be held immediately following services at Trieste 641 Chester Pike Prospect Park, PA 19076. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests and appreciates any memorial contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
