Francis Ryan, Sr. Obituary

Frank was born in Philadelphia , to the late Thomas and Annamae Nolde Ryan.  He passed away at Temple University Hospital.  Frank was a truck driver for a number of refuse removal companies in the area,

"The man with the purest heart, foundation of our roots, and most of all, our rock. He was a significant contributor and role model spanning multiple generations. Pop had daughters and raised us with the strength, courage, and independence to rely on no one but ourselves or him. Pop also insisted on babysitting and helping to raise his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, giving him the nickname of Papa Duck and his ducklings. He was the go-to for anything and everything. No matter what you needed, he would have it or find a way to get it which earned him the title, "Captain Caveman". Pop would give anyone the shirt off his back and treated everyone like his own. He gave more than money could buy and he gave of himself straight from his heart. He would so freely give without thought and expectation oftentimes to the detriment of himself. Growing up he would take in all of the neighborhood kids to ensure they weren't going without. There are so many "Frank/Pop/Dad-isms" that no doubt he will live on forever through the various lives he touched. Some of his favorite things to say are, "Take your time, just hurry up.", "Pull up a chair and sit on the floor", and his personal snarky favorite, "I knew you'd see it my way". Whenever his kids would ask for a dollar, he would make a whole scene reaching into his pocket to grab his "last goddamn dollar" but 10 minutes later, there was always one more. His grandchildren know that Pop is now sitting at the head of the dinner table in heaven thoroughly enjoying his cheese steak with extra mayo and fried onions or his favorite, "Fried farts and pickled assholes".

He is the beloved husband to Elvira "Dot" Ryan  ( nee Thorne ).  Devoted father of Barbara Yates, Francine McCann ( Paul ), Ann Ryan, Amy Ryan, Amanda Ryan and the late Frank Jr. Dear Grand Pop of  Paul,  Kaitlyn,  Matthew, Jake, Jacquelyn and the late Sean.  Loving great grand pop of Andrea, Kayla, Joshua and Theresa.

There are no services planned at this time.
