Francis J. Thoma "Frank", age 66, passed away at home on July 18, 2026. He was born in Philadelphia on June 27, 1960 and was a lifelong resident of the Kensington section of the city, in St. Anne's parish.
Frank was an avid outdoorsman who found his greatest peace in nature. Whether he was fishing, crabbing, hunting, or spending time in the mountains he loved so much, he embraced every opportunity to enjoy the outdoors.
Known as the life of every party, Frank had a wonderful sense of humor, loved to dance, and brought laughter wherever he went. He was proud to spend time as a member of the Fancy Dan’s in the Mummers, creating countless memories and friendships along the way.
Above all else, Frank’s greatest joy was his family. He loved them fiercely, especially his beloved grandchildren, who were the light of his life. Selfless and dependable, Frank would do anything for anyone. He was the person family, friends, and neighbors turned to whenever they needed a helping hand because they knew he would always find a way to help, no matter the challenge. His generous heart, unwavering loyalty, and joyful spirit will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Frank is the beloved husband of Mary (nee McBride). Devoted father of Donnie Devlin (Heather). Loving Pop of Christopher (Jess), Liam, Jonathan, and great Pop-Pop of Adalynn and Christopher. Cherished son of Margaret and George Crowley and the late John Thoma. Dear brother of Peggy Mauro (Mike) and John Thoma (Patti). Sadly missed by his many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing and funeral Thursday July 23, 2026 from 9-10:45 am in St. Anne Church 2328 East Lehigh Ave. Philadelphia, PA 19125. Funeral Mass to follow at 11am.
