Frank J. Gallagher

Frank J. Gallagher passed away on August 4, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. He is the beloved husband of 61 years to the late Margaret "Marge" (nee Millman). Devoted father of Francis W. (Denise), Suzanne Gallagher-Fyke (Richard), Daniel E., Jerry T. (Annemarie), Margaret Corcoran (James), and Timothy J. (Dana). Loving Pop to his 20 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Dear brother of Mary "Annie" Francisco, James Gallagher, Charles Gallagher (Anna), Elsie Shaw, Nancy Bosak (Walter), Thomas Gallagher (Carol), and the late Robert Gallagher, John Gallagher, Helen Baranowski, William Gallagher, and Joseph Gallagher (Dale). Sadly missed by his many nieces and nephews. 

Frank grew up in the Fishtown section of Philadelphia in a large Irish Catholic family. He was one of twelve children born to the late John J. Gallagher and Viola Buck Gallagher. Frank began working at a very young age and worked hard all of his life until his retirement, which he took a little early to care for his beloved wife Marge.  He was a proud truck driver with Teamsters Local 107 and worked for companies such as Motor Freight Express and APA Transport, from which he retired. He passed his work ethic on to his own children and taught them the value of working hard for the things you want in life. Because of this he was able to provide his family with the things they needed and enjoyed, like ponies and a home at the shore in the Villas.  When not working he enjoyed taking his kids to the stables and pony shows. Frank will always be remembered for his quick Irish wit and his kind heart. He would always be there to help anyone out and never expected anything in return. He will be missed by all those who knew and loved him, but his family takes comfort in knowing that he will be reunited with all of his family who has gone before him, especially his wife. After all, she is the only one he would ever listen to....

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing and funeral Monday August 9, 2021 from 9am-10:45am in Christ the King Church 3252 Chesterfield Rd. Philadelphia PA 19114. Funeral Mass 11am. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at the address below.
