George E. Fluehr passed away on February 8, 2021 at the age of 93. He is the beloved husband of the late Evelyn P. (nee Kasinsky). Devoted father of George F. (Barbara), Kathleen, Joseph, Lynn Willard, Barbara Hemphill, Cynthia Lennon (Fred), John, Frank, and the late Gary and Patricia Rietkerk. Dear brother of Ronald (Marcy), Joan Moore, Gene, and the late Dolly, Frank, Bobby, Calvin, Russell, and Frances. Sadly missed by his 13 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and his nieces and nephews.
George showed his bravery and duty to our country as a China Marine in World War ll. Although 93 years old, he stayed current on using technology, world and local news, entertainment and of course his family. He was a history buff. Back in late ‘90, George used WebTV to reach out to his Marine buddies and to continued to enjoy using Email and social media to keep in touch with friends and family. He was an avid reader and frequently discovered new travel videos on YouTube to see the world. George followed international TV programs including Korean soap opera and of course followed stateside TV shows that were trending. George could easily relate to members of his family in different generations. He could discuss Jeopardy with his children, Breaking Bad with his grandchildren and sports with his great grandchildren. Your first birthday card in the mail was always from George. Maybe he had an in at the post office where he worked at for 30 years. Every year, like most Philadelphians, George bled green for Eagles and cheered for the Phillies . George enjoyed trying his luck at the casinos but most of all enjoyed spending time with his entire family during the holidays and special occasions. To end the day with some cornbread and a piece of shoo fly pie would be a good day.
Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation and funeral Saturday May 15, 2021 beginning at 9am in the Hubert M. McBride Funeral Home 2357 East Cumberland Street Philadelphia PA 19125.
