Gladys Y. Villanueva

Gladys Y. Villanueva (nee Yerkes) passed away peacefully at home on January 19, 2020. She was 91 years old.  She is the beloved wife of the late Fausto. Devoted mother of Raymond (Patricia), Thomas, Maria Stocker (John), and Michael (Helene). Loving Mom Mom of Karen, Michael (Amy), Donna Wagner (Ralph), Raymond Jr. (Kelly), Jason, Ashley Turicik (Philip), Vincent, and great grandmother of Jared, Olivia, Morgan, Connor, and Andrew. Dear sister of Gerald Yerkes and the late Gertrude Williams and aunt of Ruth. 

Gladys was born and raised in the Fishtown section of Philadelphia and remained there throughout her life. She graduated from Kensington High School Class of 1946. She worked as a supervisor for PNC bank while raising her family .  Gladys was a member of the Lutheran Settlement and was the Treasurer of the 5 and 1 club at Fishtown Rec. She loved to socialize and be outside in the sunshine doing her crossword puzzles and chatting with her neighbors. She enjoyed traveling, especially to Ocean City and Disney World.  Her greatest joy was found in time spent with her family. 

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing Thursday January 23, 2020 from 7-9pm in the McElvarr Funeral Home 1415-17 East Susquehanna Avenue Philadelphia PA 19125.  A second viewing will be held Friday January 24, 2020 from 8:30-9:30am in St. Peter the Apostle Church 1019 North 5th Street Philadelphia PA 19123. Funeral Mass 10am. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to the above named church.
