Helen S. McCandless (Weiss)

Helen S. McCandless Weiss passed away suddenly on April 25, 2021 at the age of 49. She is the beloved daughter of Thomas and Jacqueline (nee Ferris). Devoted mother of William T. Weiss, Kristen W. Weiss, and Thomas W. Weiss. Loving grandmother of Robert. Dear sister of Jacqueline Hunt (Pasquale Lapetina), Thomas McCandless (Jill Maguire) Michael Arnoldy, and aunt of TJ, Jacqueline, Tommy, Sienna, Makaleigh, and the late Alyssa. Predeceased by her husband William Weiss. Sadly missed by her aunts, uncles, and cousins. 

Helen was born and raised in the Fishtown neighborhood of Philadelphia. She was a beautiful person inside and outside and will always be remembered for her love of pickles and pickle juice and her amazing sense of humor. She was very funny and could make anyone laugh. Her family will miss her tremendously but they take comfort she will be reunited with her loved ones who have gone before her. 

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing and funeral Wednesday May 5, 2021 beginning at 10am in the McElvarr Funeral Home 1415-17 East Susquehanna Ave. Philadelphia PA 19125 (Fishtown). Funeral service 12pm. Interment Greenmount Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions towards her final expenses c/o the funeral home. 

We ask that all those attending services wear a mask and maintain social distancing. Please expect wait times as there is an occupancy restriction in the funeral home due to Covid-19.
