James “Jake” J. Ludwig

James J. Ludwig “Jake” passed away peacefully on March 4, 2023 at the age of 74. He is the beloved husband of Kristen (nee Hughes). Devoted father to James “Jamie” Ludwig, Lisa Ludwig, Jennifer Ludwig (Robert Broadbent), Dennis Wolf (Joann), Ryan Wolf (Regina), Samantha Ludwig, Kyle Ludwig, Cole Ludwig, and the late Jack Wolf and Timothy Ludwig. Sadly missed by his 25 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and his fur babies Brutus and Buster. Dear brother of George Ludwig and Bobbie Jo Dunagan (Willie). Loving son in law to Anne Hughes (John Rink) and the late James Hughes. Brother-in-law of Jimmy Hughes (Melissa). Also survived by his nieces and nephews.   

James “Jake” Ludwig was born to the late Edward and Helen Ludwig. He was a true Fishtowner, a man that would give you the shirt off of his back. If he had it, he would give it. A wonderful dad to all 10 of his children, a grandpop to 25 grandchildren and great pop to 4 great grandkids. He was a legend that truly turned his life around to do better and was a hard worker in demolition and construction. Jake was big in recovery and always wanted to make a difference for people who struggled with drugs and alcohol. He had multiple recovery houses. He tried to make a difference and in our eyes he did. Many people looked up to him as a great man and hard worker. Back in the day he was big in powerlifting and was proud of how much he could put up. He will truly be missed. “We love you!”

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing and funeral Wednesday March 8, 2023 beginning at 6:30pm in the Hubert M. McBride Funeral Home 2357 East Cumberland Street Philadelphia PA 19125. Funeral service 8pm
