James J. Bell Jr. "Jim" passed away on July 14, 2026 at the age of 67. He was born in Philadelphia to the late James J. Bell Sr. and Ruth Hirsch Bell and was a longtime resident of the Kensington section of the city before moving to the far Northeast.
Jim was a man defined by his strength, unwavering work ethic, and deep devotion to his family. A true provider and protector, he worked tirelessly throughout his life to make sure the people he loved were cared for and had everything they needed. His greatest measure of success was the happiness and well-being of his family.
Jim held a special place in his heart for the Jersey Shore, where many of his happiest childhood memories were made. Those memories stayed with him throughout his life, and he loved sharing stories from his Wildwood days with his family. He returned there often with his family, creating new memories while remembering the ones that shaped him. It was one of the places he felt most at peace.
As much as he loved the shore, nothing compared to the love he had for his family. Becoming a grandfather was one of the greatest joys of his life. His grandchildren were the light of his life, and there was nothing he wouldn't do for them. He loved them beyond measure, treasured every moment with them, and took immense joy in watching them grow. his love, guidance, and quiet strength will remain with them always.
He will be remembered as a hardworking man with a generous spirit, a steadfast protector, and a man who led by example through his sacrifice and unconditional love for his family. His legacy lives on in the values he instilled in his children and grandchildren and the countless memories he created with those fortunate enough to know him.
Though our hearts are broken by the loss of him, we find comfort in knowing that he will forever remain in our hearts and memories. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
Jim is the beloved husband of Katherine J. Kattner-Bell "Kate". Devoted father of Tiffany Bell and the late James J. Bell III. Loving Pop of Gage and Pop-Pop of Carter. Dear brother of Ruth McGhee and the late Sharon Rosenfelt. Sadly missed by his nieces, nephews, and cousins.
