James T. Hagan "Perry" passed away peacefully on June 1, 2026 at the age of 85. He was born in Philadelphia to the late William and Honora "Ann" (nee Cahill) and was a lifelong resident of St. Anne Parish.
Perry proudly served his country in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War. He cherished his time there and often spoke of his hope to one day return. Following his military service, Perry worked as a forklift painter for Yale & Towne. In 1973, he fulfilled his entrepreneurial dream by opening Perry’s Place, a tavern that remains a beloved local establishment to this day.
Perry was a constant presence at the tavern and found great joy in spending time with friends and patrons. He loved playing darts and was especially passionate about shooting pool. Known for his remarkable skill and mastery of trick shots, he took equal pleasure in teaching others the game as he did in playing it himself. In his spare time, Perry enjoyed testing his luck at the casino and playing the lottery.
Perry will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, especially his family, who will forever cherish the memories, laughter, and love he shared throughout his life.
Perry was the beloved husband of Josephine "Josie" (nee Jasinski). Devoted father of James "Jimmy" Hagan and Regina Hagan. Dear brother of Jane Fitzgerald, Sister Patricia Hagan SSJ, and the late Marie Wiegand, John, Theresa McLaughlin, William, Francis X., Joseph, Nancy McKenzie, and Thomas. Brother-in-law of Anna Kearney (Joe), Frank Jasinski, and the late Stella Jasinski. Sadly missed by his many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing and funeral Saturday June 13, 2026 beginning at 9am in St. Anne Church (lower) 2328 East Lehigh Avenue Philadelphia, PA 19125, followed by his Service of Christian Burial at 11am. Interment with Military Honors will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to the Disabled American Veterans at the link below.
