Jaroslaw Zaliwciw Obituary

Jaroslaw Zaliwciw passed away peacefully at home on November 8, 2020 surrounded by his loving family. He had just celebrated his 71st birthday days before. He was born in Germany to the late Pawlo and Paraska (nee Spinzak) Zaliwciw. He emigrated to America at the age of 3 and settled in Philadelphia. He attended school at Immaculate Conception of Franklin Street. He was president of the Cheromosh dance ensemble. At the age of 17, Jaroslaw enlisted in the United States army where he served in the 5th Infantry Red Diamonds. He owned an auto repair shop and salvage yard with his brother. They were know as the Ukie Brothers or Ukie. He was a devoted father and grandfather and was very proud to be Ukranian and share his Ukranian tradition with others. After retiring, he enjoyed life in the poconos at his home is East Stroudsburg.

He is the beloved husband of Irene. Devoted father of Oksana Zaliwciw, Demetrius Zaliwciw, Danielle Mostowa, Vera Gordienko and the late Tieasa Gordienko and Pamela Gordienko. Loving Gido of Svetlana, Demetrius, Ivan, Andrea, Dominick, Antonio, Nadya, Nicholas, Evan, and Marissa. Dear brother of Wasyl Zaliwciw (late Stephanie) and Anna Czajka (Walter). Sadly missed by nieces and nephews and extended family. Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing and funeral Tuesday November 17, 2020 beginning at 9am in the Ukranian Catholic Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception 830 N. Franklin Street Philadelphia PA 19123. Divine Liturgy 10am. Interment private.
