Joan G. Hughes (nee Murray) passed away peacefully at home on January 5, 2024. She was born on March 16, 1935 to the late John and Phoebe Elizabeth (nee Martin) Murray.
Joan lived in Philadelphia for her entire life. She was a loving mother and grandmother who devoted her life to her family. She loved being with them any chance that she had. For many years, Joan was an active member of Amvets Post 77. She was always there to help with any activities and spent some time serving as the president of the Ladies Auxiliary. In her downtime, Joan loved to travel and was thrilled to have been able to take her dream vacation to Ireland. She also enjoyed music from Frank Sinatra, movies by John Wayne, and WWE wrestling. She never missed a good Monday Night Raw.
Joan is the beloved wife of the late Daniel B. Hughes Jr. Devoted mother of Phyllis Wildonger (Steven), Ruthanna O'Neill (late Edward), Deborah King, Frances Hughes, Daniel B. Hughes III, Colleen Litnak (Frank), and the late Joan Chapman (William). Dear sister of the late Phoebe "Betty" Markiz and Catherine Carroll. Sadly missed by her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and her great great grandchildren.
Joan will be greatly missed by her family takes comfort in the many memories they share with her. At this time, no services are planned.
