Joan Anna Moore (née Fluehr), born in 1935, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was the devoted wife of the late Joseph Moore, with whom she shared a lifetime of love and family. Joan spent more than 50 years in Fishtown, where she built countless memories and lifelong friendships.
She is survived by her children: Daniel (Theresa), Robert (the late Terri), and Donna (Robert). She was a loving “Gram” to eight grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Joan will be remembered for her warmth, unwavering devotion to her loved ones, and her gentle, caring spirit. One of ten children, she is survived by her brothers Eugene and Ronald. She found great joy in cooking for her family, with her specialties—German potato salad, deviled eggs, shrimp and macaroni salad—becoming favorites at every gathering. She also enjoyed the excitement of casino trips, especially playing the slots, and she never passed up the challenge of a good crossword puzzle. Throughout her life, Joan worked tirelessly and never once complained. She will be remembered for her quick wit, fiercely independent spirit, and, above all, her generosity and kindness, which touched everyone she met.
Her life was a bright light for her family and friends, and that light now leaves the world just a little dimmer. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Joan leaves behind a legacy of love, cherished traditions, and treasured memories that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her. Her family takes comfort in knowing she is reunited with her beloved husband, Joseph, her son, Jack, and other loved ones who have gone before her.
In accordance with her wishes, there will be no viewing. A private luncheon will be held at a later date to celebrate her life. To honor her memory, family and friends are invited to play one of her favorite lottery numbers 222.
Irish Blessing
May the road rise up to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
And rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
