Joanne Eve Laude (nee Murphy)
January 18,1956 – November 28,2021
Joanne was born and raised in Kensington. She was proud to be Irish but even more proud to be a Murphy. She was baptized Catholic but grew to love a particular Protestant Church, The Salvation Army. It was there that she felt at home and had many church leaders who helped her throughout her life. As a child, she went to the Salvation Army Pioneer Corps and was introduced to activities that she loved such as Sunday School, Sunbeams, Girl Guards and Ceramics.
Joanne was married October 23rd, 1976, to Andrew Michael Laude Sr. They had 9 children together. She had a good sense of humor and loved to tell everyone stories about her growing up in Kensington. "Ever hear about the man who had a toothache and a pair of plyers?" Or the time on moving day she let all the kids in the neighborhood roller-skate in the living room. She loved things like Limburger cheese and thought it was funny that everyone gagged at the smell. She loved Creamed Chipped Beef but only referred to it as "Shit on a Shingle". Joanne had to have Star Cookies whenever she found them. She loved her tuna hoagies with mayonnaise and oil, cheese steaks with fried onions, and late-night chicken wings from the Chinese store on Front St. She also loved going on sneaky McDonalds runs.
Growing up she always wanted to live on a farm. Joanne loved all types of animals. As an adult she had dogs, cats, bunnies, hamsters, Guinea pigs, snakes, hermit crabs. She even had chickens and a rooster. She loved Shirley Temple movies, Little House on the Prairie, Annie, and the Wizard of Oz. She also loved going on short road trips with her husband Big Andy and camping at the Campgrounds. Joanne loved being in the city with the El train screeching by. She loved sitting on her step and watching everyone pass by and talking to everyone. She was known to make friends with anyone and spoke to damn near everyone who walked down Dauphin St. If anyone (even someone she just met) needed a place to stay her door was always open. Joanne loved people and it didn’t matter to her what profession or what your social status was, she loved you and she loved helping who ever she could.
She is predeceased by her parents Thomas J. Murphy Sr and Catherine Elizabeth Murphy (nee Witts), her sister Catherine Flynn (nee Murphy), her 2 brothers Thomas Murphy Jr. and Dennis Murphy, her Husband Andrew Michael Laude Sr., and her son Andrew Michael Laude Jr. She is survived by her Sister Edna Garson (John), her Brother Larry Murphy (Fran), her children Karen Ann Laude, Eva Marie Laude (Alex), Catherine Elizabeth Laude (Luis), Deborah Ellen Laude, Cheryl Lynn Laude, David Murphy Laude, Joanne Marie Rodriguez (Greg), Mary Danielle Gonzalez (Chris), 14 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews, Great Nieces, Great Nephews, Cousins, and lots of Family Friends.
