John was born in St. Mary's Hospital to the late George McKinney and Dorothy Dougherty , on January 6, 1963. He passed away in Temple University Hospital, after a brief but valiant battle with cancer.
John "Boogie" was a man who went to work every night and when he was home he was running after his youngest children and spending time with his wife. John was born and raised in Fishtown and loved his time playing softball and in 2022 would still mention his championship games. Any sport, he was going to watch or join in the game. He rarely missed an opportunity to shout at the TV or crack a dirty joke. He previously worked at the Penn Treaty Market and recently worked at the Aramingo Shop Rite for 20 or more years. He was a member of United Food and Commercial Workers Union, Local # 1776.
Boogie was a man of few words with a giant heart. Family man to his core and he will be severly missed by everyone.
