John "Jack" Mount Obituary

John T. Mount "Jack" passed away peacefully on August 10, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. He is the beloved husband of Susan Mount (nee Hubert). Devoted father of Michael Mount (Monica), John "Jackie" Mount Jr., Daniella Arentzen (Ronnie), and Tina Marie Mount-Ungurean (Bob). Loving Pop-Pop Max to Andrew, Paige, Deirdre, Jacob, Maya, Adam, Leo, Dani, Alexa, and great grandfather to Lucas, Cole, and Chelsea. Dear brother of Edward, Anna, and Patricia. Sadly missed by his nieces and nephews.

Jack was raised in South Philadelphia and then moved to Fishtown where he lived for 46 years. He graduated from Bishop Neumann High School and worked for over 36 years for SEPTA. He enjoyed his job and worked hard, first as a driver, then as a yardman, which he loved and retired from. Jack would never turn down overtime or an extra days work as he would do anything to provide for his family.  He was a talented athlete during his younger days. He loved to play sports and went on to win All-State in Football. Because of this, he had the privilege of meeting President Nixon with his team. Jack was also an avid Philly sports fan and you could hear him on any given Sunday yelling at the television during the games.  He was a great dancer who loved to dance with his wife  and teach  his children dances such as the jitterbug.

Jack was a true Philly guy who was proud of his roots and loved all things about his city. He loved the Mummers,  a good Mummers strut, and an ice cold Pepsi.  He also loved the Jersey shore, especially Wildwood, and loved to visit the beach, walk on the boardwalk and enjoy all of his favorite boardwalk treats.  Jack was a neighborhood staple and opened his home to anyone and everyone who needed a place to stay, a meal, or a listening ear. He was like a father to many neighborhood kids and was known to play Santa for all the kids in his life for over 30 years.  Between doing this, and watching Hallmark Christmas movies, Christmas time  would become favorite time of year.  Jack was an all around wonderful man who loved everyone, especially his family. He was dedicated to them and was full of joy when he was surrounded by them. He will be truly missed by anyone who had the honor of knowing him.

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing and funeral Friday August 13, 2021 beginning at 11am in the Hubert M. McBride Funeral Home 2357 East Cumberland Street Philadelphia PA 19125.
