John R. Meyer

John was born in Philadelphia to the late Alexander and Emily Pish Meyer.  He passed away Tuesday surrounded by his loving family. He had been  a member of Immaculate Conception parish attended school there and graduated from North Catholic HS.  He was a proud veteran of the US Army, serving in the early 60's and attained the rank of SP4.    He was an Industrial Specialist for the Philadelphia Gas Works for many years.. Also known as ' The Candy Man ', he and his wife Barbara,  operated Meyer's Candy and Water Ice  at Girard Ave and Eyre St., through the 70's and 80's  .   He enjoyed hunting, fishing, making stained glass and scuba diving.   He also attended retreats with the 'Men of Malvern ' for many years. In addition to his beloved wife Barbara ( nee Lemar ), he is the devoted father of John R. Meyer Jr, ( Theresa ), Barbara Ann Klenk ( James ), Christine Meyer-Dueh, Deanna Breary ( Jason ) and Karl Meyer ( Heather ).  Loving grandpop of John III, Emily,  Katee, Jim Jr., Anderson,  Jason Jr.  Jenna,  Justin,  Killian,  Gabriel,  Christian,  Olivia,  Vaughn and Asher.                       Funeral Mass is Private.
