Joseph Jezak Obituary

Joseph L. Jezak passed away on February 3, 2021 at the age of 65, wonderful husband to Jane ( nee Keller ).   He was born in Fishtown to the late Anthony Sr. and Mary Ann (nee Hill); beloved brother of Betty Cramer (Bob), Stanley (Kim), Theresa, and the late Tony Jr (John), Mary Ann Hetherington (Don), and Frank; jovial Uncle Joe to many nieces and nephews.

Joe attended St. Laurentius Roman Catholic Church and grade school then graduated from Mastbaum High School in 1973. IN January of that year, he began dating Jane Keller whom he married on May 16, 1981.  After his marriage, Joe became active at Siloam United Methodist Church where he served as chair of the board of trustees and was a regular volunteer at church and Women's Circle events.

Joe explored various career paths until he found his calling in furniture upholstering. In August 1992, he began over 27 years of service to the City of Philadelphia in the Department of Public Property, where he was fondly referred to as the "chair man of City Hall". His responsibilities as Upholsterer Group leader also included care of the Parkway flags as well as work with the Mayor's office and on special city events.

Joe had a variety of interests including reading, cooking, gardening, games and puzzles. He loved the shore, especially walking the beach early in the AM using his metal detector.  Always in search of that treasure, Joe enjoyed flea markets and yard sales as well as his lottery quests. He was mechanically inclined and could fix almost anything and loved the challenge to try.

Joe's easy going nature and wonderful sense of humor made him a joy to be around. His quick wit came with a joke for any topic. He maintained his positive attitude  through the rigors of exhaustive treatments for leukemia. His smile and warmth will be greatly missed.

Per Joe's wishes services were private on May 14, 2021 with the Rev. Randy Brubaker officiating.   The family kindly requests, in lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory to: The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society  100 N. 20th St. Phila., PA. 19103 or to your charity of choice.
