Joseph P. Seamans, age 75, passed away on March 19, 2026 after a valiant battle with cancer. He was born in Philadelphia to the late George and Mary (nee Hvizda) Seamans and lived throughout his life in the Fishtown/Kensington area of the city.
Joseph graduated from North Catholic High School and proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, where he transported ammunition and supplies.
Joe was a vendor by trade and operated his own vending company, becoming known for his deep knowledge of vending machines and earning the nickname “Joe Da Venda.” An avid golfer, Joe also had a true passion for music and an impressive knowledge of all genres, making him the official family DJ. Joe was always the life of the party—quick with a joke, happiest when surrounded by people, and especially devoted to his family. He made it a priority to show up, stay involved, and be present in the lives of those he loved.
He is the devoted father of Joseph Seamans and grandfather of Kaitlyn Seamans. Dear brother of Dianne Kitz (Joseph), Johanna Mangam (late Steve), and the late Andrew Seamans, Elizabeth Blondo, Sandra Turner (Dennis), Edward Seamans (late Sharon), and Robert Seamans (late Loretta). Cherished Uncle Do-Dad or Unka to his many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing and funeral Wednesday March 25, 2026 beginning at 9am in St. Anne's Church 2328 East Lehigh Avenue Philadelphia, PA 19125, followed by his funeral mass at 11am. Interment with Military Honors in Washington Crossing National Cemetery will take place at a later date.
