Judith A. (Strekis) Peyton

Judy Peyton passed away on May 19, 2026, at Lorien Assisted Living Facility in Mount Airy, MD.

She passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and friends.   She was born to the late John and Dorothy (Novick) Strekis in Philadelphia, PA on April 30, 1944. The family moved to Oaklyn, NJ, 
where she attended Collingswood High School and Glassboro State College (Rowen University). She 
married the late Leo Peyton in 1967 and returned to Philadelphia where she became a teacher in the 
Philadelphia Public School System. She moved to Lorien Assisted Living Facility located in Mount 
Airy, Maryland in 2021 to be closer to her son. 

She is survived by her son, Sean Peyton; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Peyton; sisters Jeanne (Gene) 
Ferguson and Jackie (Bob) Faupel and several nieces and nephews. 

Family and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at 11 AM in Zion Lutheran 
Church 301 Jefferson Avenue, Bristol, PA 19007 where friends are invited to gather after 10 AM. Judy will be laid to rest with her beloved Leo at Washington Crossing National Cemetery at 1 PM. Light refreshments will be served at the church following the interment.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in her honor to St. Jude 
Children’s Research Hospital, The Arthritis Foundation, American Lung Association or Susan G. Komen 
Breast Cancer Foundation.
