Katharine "Kate" Corkery

Katharine Corkery "Kate" passed away suddenly at home on February 10, 2020, at the age of 44.  She was born in Philadelphia to her loving parents Joan (nee Mansfield) and the late John Corkery.  Beloved wife of Shawn Palek. Devoted mother of Kaitlyn (James), Kevin, and Siobhan (David). Loving Mom mom of Isabella, Sofia, and Jovanni. Dear sister of John (Robyn) and Brian. Sadly missed by her nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Kate was raised in St Anne parish and attended elementary school there. She graduated from John W. Hallahan High School for girls in 1993.  Kate was a hard worker who owned Kate's Painting, a home improvement service. She was a very creative and artistic person and had a small business making homemade gifts, especially candles. She had a love for life and loved spending time at the jersey shore, flying kites on the beach, going to the boardwalk, and enjoying a slice of Sam's pizza. A true Philly girl, she also loved the Mummers. Her greatest love was her family and her faith. She loved the Lord and had a strong devotion to her parish of St. Anne and also to the Holy Adoration Sisters or "Pink Sisters". She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her. 

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing and funeral Sunday February 16, 2020 from 6-8pm in the Hubert M. McBride Funeral Home 2357 E. Cumberland Street Philadelphia PA 19125 and Monday February 17, 2020 beginning at 9am in St. Anne Church (upper) 2328 E. Lehigh Ave. Philadelphia PA 19125. Funeral Mass 10:30am. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to St. Anne Church or to the Holy Adoration Sisters "Pink Sisters"
