Linda Sickels Obituary

Linda A. Sickels, age 66 (née Mason) went home to be with the Lord on January 6, 2021 after a valiant 2 year battle with lung cancer. She is the beloved wife of 49 years to Chick. Devoted mother of Cheryl and Chickie (Andrea). Loving Grandmom to her granddaughters Monica (Vince), Gabrielle (Nicole) Alissa (Orlin) Emily (Devin),her grandson Anthony (Brianna), and her great grandson Ivan. Dear sister of the late Patricia Camm (late Richard), and the late John “Spike” Mason (Jannett). Sadly missed by her sister in law, Dot (Mole),  brother in law, Dennis (Joanne), and her nieces and nephews.

Linda was a devoted wife.  Even during the worst days of her illness she worried about the health and well- being of her husband, Chick. She was a dedicated and loving mother and she adored her grandchildren. Her in-laws, her many cousins and nieces and nephews all had a special place in her heart.  Her family came first, always.  She was the glue that kept them together and she always made a point to show up for any of the kids activities. She loved her friends dearly and once you were her friend,  you were always her friend. She always left everyone she met encouraged and feeling loved.  She was the most loyal person you could ever meet.  She never wanted the spotlight or credit but her humble, compassionate and authentic presence made her stand out wherever she went.  She enjoyed working and was quickly raised up the ranks to management positions wherever she went, not because she was ambitious but because she was a great leader. In spite of her own busy schedule, she always made time to volunteer to help others.  For many years she ran a support group and yearly vigil for families of people struggling with drug addiction. For that service she received an honorary commendation from the Mayor of Philadelphia but she never wanted to display the plaque because,  to her,  she was just being herself.  She was a dedicated volunteer and Eucharistic minister at her beloved St. Anne Church and she spent many, many Sundays working at the bingo for the parish.  Her faith was strong and her heart was huge.  She was eternally hopeful.  Her beauty was her authenticity. She will be greatly missed by anyone who had the pleasure to know and love her.
