Lisa Ann Schultz, born on August 23, 1968, embodied a radiant spirit of love and unwavering dedication. On December 12, 2023, embraced by the overwhelming love she inspired, Lisa peacefully transitioned. She was the beloved daughter of Joanne Smalley and an exceptional mother to Genevieve Castleton and Victoria Lesher. She is remembered by so many loving extended family members, friends, neighbors, and her beloved dog, Muffin.
Lisa’s roots were firmly planted in Fishtown, where she was born at St. Mary's Hospital. Her commitment to service began early as a candy striper volunteer, setting the stage for a lifetime of giving back. From leading her Girls Scout Brownie troop at Siloam Church to returning as their guiding leader, Lisa carried a spirit of leadership and community.
Her educational journey included attending Immaculate Conception Preschool, Holy Name of Jesus School, and graduating from St. Michael's Business School. Lisa's passion for teaching sign language led her to volunteer with the Fishtown Civic Association, sharing her knowledge with local youth. She went on to dedicate her life to deaf education at the Pennsylvania School for the Deaf.
Lisa’s heart beat for her community, believing in the strength of people supporting each other. Despite her own battle with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia for six years, she remained a fervent advocate for initiatives like 'Be The Match', urging others to donate blood and platelets.
She served as a block captain, displaying her belief that every individual can make a difference in their neighborhood. Written on every page of block communication was a phrase she firmly believed, “When one neighbor helps another, we strengthen our community.”
Her mantra, echoing the Girl Scout motto, was to always leave things better than she found them—a philosophy she lived by, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew her.
In memory of Lisa Ann Schultz, her family kindly requests donations to 'Be The Match' (for more information click the link below) and encourages continued support for community initiatives, honoring Lisa's legacy of selflessness and compassion.
Lisa will be deeply missed but remembered for her unwavering love, boundless kindness, and tireless dedication to making the world a better place.
