Louis J. Riess Jr.

Louis J. Riess (Little Lou), age 52, passed away on July 17, 2024 at his childhood home with family. Louie was born on May 2, 1972 at St. Mary’s hospital in Philadelphia, to Dorothea Riess (Mother) and Louis Riess (Father).

Louie was a simple man who enjoyed spending time with his family, his dog Shadow, and lifetime partner Jeanette. He was very intelligent and seemed to know every answer to Jeopardy questions. He always listed to the news, BBC, educational documentaries, and had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. In addition to his love for trivia, he loved animals, science fiction, Barry Manilow, writing poetry, and sports. His favorite team was the Philadelphia Flyers.

Anyone who was fortunate to meet him, knew how kind, humble, caring, and hilarious he was. He was always quick with a joke or a comeback, like the rest of his family.

Little Louie is preceded in death and will be reunited with his loved ones, Sammy (Nephew), Sissy (Sister), and Barbara (Sister).

He is survived by Louis (Father), Dorothea (Mother), Justin (Brother), Matt (Brother), Bridgett (Sister), Melissa (Sister-in-law), Alexis (Sister-in-law), Brandon (Nephew), Morgan (Niece), Kyla (Niece), Jeanette (Life Partner) and many other cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

He will be greatly missed. We will celebrate his life on Thursday, July 25, 2024 beginning at 10:30am in the Hubert M. McBride Funeral Home 2357 E. Cumberland St. Philadelphia, PA 19125, followed by words of remembrance at 12pm.
