Luis A. Alvarez passed away unexpectedly at home on December 19, 2020, at the age of 64. Beloved husband of 43 years to Lillian (nee Gorham). Devoted "Non-Stop Talking" father of Dana (Dave), Louis (Lauren), Eddie (Jamie), and Albert (Brittni). Loving Pop-Pop of Dayla, Ally, Edward, Davin, Anthony, Daiden, Alister, Ella, Aniston, Oliver, and Tobi. Loving brother of Migdalia Alvarez, Lucy Santos, and the late Edward and Albert Alvarez. Sadly missed by his nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Lou was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico where he picked coconuts until he was 5 years old. He then moved to Philadelphia ,where he met his high school sweetheart Lillian and shared a life with her for 43 years. They raised their family in the tight knit neighborhood of Kensington and were proud of their children. Lou was a fun loving, amusing guy who loved his family, and he loved them hard. He loved cooking, dancing, talking, and spending time with his family and he was passionate about these things. He was famous for whipping up the best meals for less than $3 and he would spend hours in the kitchen cooking for his family. He loved nothing more than to see them enjoy his replica of the Big Mac.
At 64 years old, Lou was by far the best dancer you ever did see and he could do a better moonwalk than Michael Jackson himself. He was hands down the best talker you could ever meet. When it came to having a conversation he took the cake. Lou loved to talk and talk...and did we mention talk? If he would get you on the phone, expect an hour at the least. He always tried his best to make people laugh and made jokes that many times only he understood. This is what his family will miss the most. He prided himself in doing the "Elmo" voice (only he heard that) and convinced himself that he was "The Voice". Spending time with his grandchildren made his heart full and complete.
Because Lou would not want to end anything on a sad note, we will end this with "Feliz Año Nuevo"!!
