Margaret Waldron

Margaret “Marge” Waldron of Fishtown sadly left us on January 19, 2023, following an extended battle with Alzheimer's.  Marge was born on August 25, 1943 to the late James and Margaret (nee Bryan) Waldron.  Beloved sister of the late James Waldron, Joseph Waldron and Patricia Woods. 

Marge was a staple of Fishtown having lived her whole life on Thompson Street.   She attended Holy Name School, where she was a lifelong parishioner, and then attended high school at Nazareth Academy.   A true independent, no-nonsense woman, Marge worked for many decades at Aramark in Philadelphia as a bookkeeper and office manager. 

Post-retirement, she could be seen taking her daily walks through the neighborhood or frequenting the Lutheran Settlement House Senior Center.   Marge loved nostalgia and knew every black and white movie that would air on Turner Classic Movies.   She adored Elvis and loved the smooth sounds of Johnny Mathis.   And she loved spending time with her family.  

Marge was the family historian and could be counted on to remember every conversation and family interaction that took place over the last 50 years.  Her green bean casserole will be sorely missed at Christmas, as will she.   

“Gee” as she was known to her family, was the beloved aunt of 5 nieces and nephews, James Waldron, Joseph Waldron, Timothy Waldron, the late Matthew Waldron, Donald Woods, Jennifer O’Connell (nee Woods) and the late Caroline Waldron – as well as many grandnieces and grandnephews.  

Relatives and friends are invited to gather and celebrate her life Thursday, January 26, 2023 beginning at 9:30am at Hubert M. McBride Funeral Home at 2357 E. Cumberland Street Philadelphia, PA 19125.  A funeral service will follow at 11am.  Marge will be laid to rest with her beloved parents at New Catherdral Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Holy Name of Jesus Church, 701 Gaul St, Philadelphia, PA 19125.
